House of the Dragon Season 2 Release Date Announced

Return to Westeros on June 16

HBO's Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon will return for its second season on Sunday, June 16 at 9 pm ET/PT, streaming simultaneously on HBO Max.

The announcement was made by HBO on Tuesday, May 22, along with a new teaser trailer that gives fans a glimpse of what to expect in the upcoming season.

The second season of House of the Dragon will pick up where the first season left off, with the Targaryen civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons in full swing. The season will reportedly feature new characters and locations, as well as the return of fan favorites like Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) and Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith).

House of the Dragon is a prequel to the popular HBO series Game of Thrones, which ran for eight seasons from 2011 to 2019. The series is based on the novel Fire & Blood by George R.R. Martin, and tells the story of the Targaryen family during the Dance of the Dragons.

The first season of House of the Dragon was a critical and commercial success, with many critics praising its cast, writing, and visuals. The season finale aired on October 23, 2022, and fans have been eagerly awaiting news of the second season ever since.
